Reflections

Back to the permanent marker. This piece happens to be one of my favorites so far. It reminds me of a window at night. I have a love hate relationship with windows, I think windows are some of the most beautiful things but they make me feel really insecure and can be a bit scary, especially at night.

Winter

Here is another college project. This is only one quarter of it and I will not be posting the other seventy five percent. This project was based on creating four pieces each representing a different season. I got board half way through the seasons which means the remaining three seasons leave a lot to be desired. I do wish I had taken more interest in this particular project. I think I could have ended up with a nice arrangement.

Pipes

This one always makes me laugh. It's more the memory of making it than the piece it's self. This is another piece from my basic design class in college. At the time I thought it ridiculous for our teacher to have us cut squares out of construction paper and make designs out of them. Now I just laugh because even though it seems grade-school-ish I think it would be fun to be able to spend my days playing with construction paper.

Here is my lady again. This piece is from college. I was required to produce a color wheel for my basic design class. I was never much for a traditional color wheel.

Tile Prints

These were my first attempts at print making. I can't recall the exact name of what we did,... it was almost eight years ago, but I think one of these days I might just make some more. We basically took rubber tiles and carved pictures into them. Then we rolled ink over them like a stamp and pressed paper to them to capture the image. If anyone knows the art terminology for this type of work I would love to know.

Progression of the Owls

Here is the owl that started it all. I sketched this little guy one night when I couldn't fall asleep. Since then I can't seem to get the birds out of my head.

Big Hair

For some reason the lady with big curly hair continues to make reappearances. I find her fun to draw. It is also fun to see how many different forms she can take. This particular piece is from sometime last summer.

Baby Feet

I thought I would take a break from the permanent marker and show some of my past work. This is an oil pastel drawing of my oldest daughter's feet when she was three and a half months old. She had such chubby feet. I loved all the wrinkles so I just had to sketch them.
